Mia Georgina Hull

London-based theatre director and dramaturg from New York City who specialises in site specific performance and re-confronting old texts. She has worked with the Suzuki Company of Toga (Japan), Compagnie in Cauda (France), and AlaSur (Argentina). Former Artist-in-Residence at Judson Memorial Church (NYC). Associate Director to Sam Max, Devin Brain, Andrew Neisler, and Kameron Steele. Assistant Director to Morgan Green, Caitlin Sullivan, Alison Beatty, Tom Costello, Godefroy Segal, and Omar Sangare. New works script development and dramaturgical mentorship, along with producing development workshops for Pipeline Theatre Company (NYC). Worked with drama students on productions and led devising workshops at NYU-Tisch and Williams College. She is a co-founder of Betyl Theatre.

Shortlisted for the 2023 TaPRA Postgraduate Essay Prize for 'Blackface as Exorcism: Using Aimé Césaire to Unlock Blackface in An Octoroon and Tight Right White'. Her piece 'On Makeup' recently appeared in Interventions Winter 2025 Special Issue of Contemporary Theatre Review, and her article '(Re)presenting Blackface: Staging Racial Prosthetics in An Octoroon and Tight Right White is forthcoming in 2026. She has delivered lectures on radical political cabaret to TaPRA (University of Leeds) and artasfoundation (the Swiss Foundation for Art in Regions of Conflict). MPhil from the University of Cambridge (recipient of two Judith E. Wilson grants) and BA from Williams College (2017 Hubbard Hutchinson Fellowship, 2016 Lawrence Graver Prize in Theatre.)

Theatrical work in Britain includes a production of Anne Carson’s Agamemnon set against the facade of a Victorian estate and a commission to create an experimental piece, ‘This is the good place’, commemorating Christopher Isherwood’s centenary at the Parker Library. Most recently, her direction of Betyl Theatre production Play Dead was seen at The Horse Hospital and Playhouse East (Autumn 2025). Currently, she is editing her first feature, an ongoing experimental project using Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters to investigate how to capture theatrical development on film and make a theatrical spectator of a filmic one.
